poutangata

Pou Tangata a symbol for PRT in New Zealand. Based on a Maori Tukutuku pattern (see maori.org.nz ) referring to people in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) it also reflects the connectedness of the PRT network.

The Masdar PRT project appears to be on track a recent report noted. "Personal Rapid Transit vehicles are now being tested, and will transport people from a parking area to Masdar Institute when testing is complete later this month or in early to mid November." "However, the completion date for Abu Dhabi's Masdar City, set to be the first in the world powered solely by renewable energy, has been pushed back until between 2020 and 2025" the report stated. Nevertheless, phase one of the renewable energy enclave, including the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency and the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology campus, is now slated for completion in 2015

Update - It has been noted here that Masdar will not be car free. Furthermore in relation to PRT the report states

The first phase of the Dutch-made Personal Rapid Transit system will stay a pilot project, serving Masdar Institute (MIST) and linking to a parking lot. There will be no citywide network. This had been telegraphed too (TWIP,March 17, April 27), yet to see it as a final decision is a smack in the face. Masdar's particular PRT technology might very well be proven in operation. But relegated to parking shuttle duty, even if well-traveled, means that it will do nothing to settle the question of what PRT can do if deployed over a wide area.
